Mental Toughness Program (75 Hard)

As I fight to maintain the mental edge, keep growing my companies and be a leader in my home and community, this program has been an essential tool!

This past weekend my wife and I completed the 75 Hard mental toughness program created by Andy Frisella. Back in 2016/2017, Andy’s podcast provided me with a critical kick in pants when I was attempting to successfully transition out of the military. As I fight to maintain the mental edge, keep growing my companies and be a leader in my home and community, this program has been an essential tool!

This program requires you (for 75 days straight) t0:

  • Do two 45 minute workouts (one of them has to be outside)
  • Read 10 pages of non-fiction
  • Drink a gallon of water
  • Follow a diet (with no cheating)
  • Not drink any alcohol
  • Take a progress photo

I’ve passed the hardest selections in the military, deployed 12 times, and done the Best Ranger Competition, but consistently executing the required tasks for all 75 days of this program is uniquely difficult and more tailored to making you successful in daily life. This program helps you form the essential habit that Andy has talked about on another podcast – executing 3-5 critical tasks daily. Executing 3-5 critical tasks daily forever is more important than doing tons of tasks for a short period of time. Just like getting in shape requires consistently working out vs getting all motivated to do a 1-rep max every couple weeks.

I’m a father of 5, we homeschool our kids, and I run several small businesses. I’ve heard Andy talk about people using their kids as an excuse not to do the program, but I have a suggestion: include them in the process! We need to raise our kids to be tough mentally, spiritually, and physically. It’s important we set the example by our actions. My wife and I both completed the program at the same time, and the conversations we had with our kids along the way were awesome.

It is critical to have dominion over our whole self – spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). In a comfortable first-world society it’s easy to neglect caring for the physical body! We can’t neglect this aspect of ourselves because everything is connected (more on this later).
