Elon Musk is Executing a Bold Vision. Are You?

This is officially the first episode that I am doing on current events for the Life on Target podcast. In classic Elon musk fashion he has made headlines are doing something unexpected. On March 14 he filed with the SEC disclosing his 9.2% stake in Twitter, which makes him the single largest shareholder in the company—way ahead of Jack Dorsey, who now has the #7 spot. Following the announcement, the current CEO of Twitter offered Musk a position on the board. What I find interesting about all of this is that the announcement caused Twitter’s stock to jump up 27%, which created more than a billion dollars of additional shareholder wealth—in a 24 hour period.

The point I make in this episode is that Christians should be focused on building strong businesses, and that takes having a vision, and executing a vision requires taking risks. And in spite of all of the successes that Elon Musk has had with his companies, he has faced humorous setbacks and catastrophic failures. The successes they get highlighted in the news are the result of following a strategic vision for years and years and years.

This week, my pastor preached a sermon on Jonah and talked about how most Christians live their whole lives asleep, simply unaware of what God is calling them to. Are you one of them?

In my own life, I found at the successes of today have come about because our family has simply tried to do the next thing that is in front of us. We take risks because we believe what God says, and we are trying to live out of a bigger vision than just paying down debt and living frugally. We want to bless our children and our larger community by living boldly, and I want you to do the same. This week, ask God what he is calling you to do—what is the target He wants you to aim for in you life. Take hold of that vision and work on executing it without fear.
